Toledo Walleye News Release
To Toledo, OH - Forwards Andy Huff and Collin MacDonald have agreed to terms with the Toledo Walleye for the 2016-17 season. The rights to Huff were acquired by Toledo from Wichita for future considerations on August 8. The native of Howell, Michigan posted 26 points (11G, 15A) and 30 penalty minutes for the Thunder last season. Huff split his first professional year between Florida, Idaho and Rapid City in which he combined for one goal and seven assists. "Andy is a hard working, smart forward," Head Coach Dan Watson said. "He comes from a great college program in Ferris State and will help to bolster our forward group." In four years at Ferris State (2010-2014), Huff played with Walleye players Scott Czarnowczan, Kyle Bonis and Simon Denis. He helped the Bulldogs win a CCHA regular season championship in the 2011-12 season with 10 points (4G, 6A) in 30 games. The 24-year-old finished his college career in 2013-14 by setting career bests in goals (11), assists (14), points (25), penalty minutes (41) and appearances (40) on a Bulldog team that won the WCHA. He finished as a plus 21 with 51 points (22G, 29A) in 129 career games in Ferris. MacDonald, a native of West Milford, New Jersey, has spent the last four years at the University of New Hampshire posting six goals with five assists over 70 total games. This past season he served as captain for the Wildcats. The 24-year-old forward picked up a career best three goals and four assists with 10 penalty minutes during his junior season (2014-15) in 20 games after returning from a leg injury at the end of his sophomore season. "Collin is a good hockey player who has had some tough luck injury wise to deal with over the past few years," said Head Coach Dan Watson. "His size and abilities will help our club." MacDonald was twice on the Hickey East All-Academic Team and was inducted into the National College Athletic Honor Society. Prior to joining the Wildcats, the 6'2", 200 pound forward appeared in 51 games for the Jersey Hitmen of the EJHL posting 28 goals, 18 assists and 14 penalty minutes. The Toledo Walleye return to the Huntington Center for their home opener on Saturday, October 22, when they face the Brampton Beasts. Puck drops at 7:15 p.m. Get your tickets now to Opening Night and the season by calling 419-725-WALL or by going to www.toledowalleye.com.
