FAYETTEVILLE, NC - A walk-off balk in the bottom of the tenth inning locked up a 4-3 win for the Fayetteville Woodpeckers (18-29) on Tuesday night in the series opener with the Carolina Mudcats (28-19) at Segra Stadium. The walk-off win is the third this season for Fayettevile and the first in extra innings.

With the Woodpeckers trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the tenth, Cam Robinson (L, 1-1) struggled with control, walking three straight hitters including Luke Berryhill with the bases loaded to make it 3-2. Once Juan Geraldo (BS,1) entered from the bullpen, Zach Daniels tied the game with an infield single that kept the bases loaded. In the following at bat, Geraldo failed to pause while coming set for a two-strike pitch to Yohander Martinez, and a balk was ruled to end the night.

Tuesday's action kicked off with Houston Astros RHP Josh James making his second rehab start with Fayetteville. James allowed a leadoff single to Gabe Holt and walked Freddy Zamora before retiring three in a row to close a scoreless frame on 18 pitches. His night was cut short after the start of the second inning was halted due to a rain delay.

Out of the hour-long delay, Daniels opened the scoring in the bottom of the second with an RBI single off Brandon Knarr. Alfredi Jimenez took the mound in the second and tossed two scoreless innings before giving up a solo home run to Ernesto Martinez that tied the game 1-1 in the fourth

Jimenez pitched through the fifth and handed the game over to Misael Tamerez (W, 1-1), who kept the game deadlocked at 1-1 into extras. Tamarez struck out four and only surrendered a single hit over his first four innings while touching 100 mph on the stadium radar gun.

Tamarez inherited Gabe Holt as an extra base runner in the tenth and allowed him to score on a groundout from Freddy Zamora. Felix Valerio added an RBI double to make it a 3-1 Carolina lead before Fayetteville's come-from-behind inning.

The series continues on Wednesday night with a double-header scheduled to begin at 4:00 pm ET. Fayetteville will start RHP Shea Barry and Carolina is scheduled to roll out RHP Jhoan Cruz in Game 1.
