STATE COLLEGE - Bolstered by another strong offensive effort, Tyler Waldron earned his second win of the season with six shutout innings as the State College Spikes defeated the Auburn Doubledays, 7-0, to earn another series victory at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

Waldron (2-2) allowed just five hits as he ran his scoreless innings streak to 11, all coming against Auburn (14-22). The Pirates' fifth-round draft pick out of Oregon State picked up the first win of his professional career on Monday with five scoreless frames at Falcon Park.

State College (18-18) raced out to the lead in the third inning, with three runs off of Doubledays starter Jesse Hernandez (1-3) that all came with two outs in the inning. Adalberto Santos stroked an RBI single to start the scoring, with Chase Lyles's two-run single adding to the damage. The Spikes piled on another trio of runs in the fifth inning and one more on Cole White's triple in the sixth to extend the lead.

Matt Curry also went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and a run batted in to extend his on-base streak to 21 games, the longest active string in the New York-Penn League. Walker Gourley added two more RBI's with his fifth-inning single.

Mitch Fienemann and Jason Townsend completed the Spikes' shutout victory by allowing a combined total of one hit while teaming up to strike out five batters over the final three innings. It was the second shutout for the State College pitching staff after Quinton Miller and Kevin Decker's blanking of the Vermont Lake Monsters on July 11th.

Hernandez took the loss for Auburn after allowing three runs on four hits and three walks in 2 2/3 innings.

Sunday, the Spikes hit the road for a short two-game set as they take on the Mahoning Valley Scrappers (Cleveland Indians) at Eastwood Field in Niles, Ohio. State College will send right-hander Casey Sadler (2-0) to the mound for his first start of the season. Mahoning Valley will go with right-hander Alex Kaminsky (4-1), who threw five shutout innings for the victory against the Spikes on Tuesday.
