-SPIKES FINISH HOMESTAND AGAINST AUBURN: The State College Spikes face the Auburn Doubledays tonight in the final game of a three-game set tonight at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park. State College took two of three games against Auburn at Falcon Park earlier in the week. The Spikes lead the all-time series, 23-22.

-LAST GAME: Matt Curry became the fourth State College Spikes player ever to hit two homers in one game, but the Auburn Doubledays had enough power to push through for a 10-7 win over the Spikes at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park last night. Curry slugged a two-run homer to right field in the fourth inning, then added a solo shot that traveled over the right-field bleachers in the seventh. Adalberto Santos went 3-for-4 with 2 RBI as well.

-WALDRON LOOKS FOR ANOTHER BIG START: Right-hander Tyler Waldron looks to top the Doubledays for the second time this week as he goes to the hill for the Spikes tonight. Waldron allowed no runs and just two hits over five innings on Monday in Auburn, striking out five along the way for his first professional win. The Pirates' 2010 fifth-round draft choice has gone exactly five innings in each of his last four starts.

-HERNANDEZ GETS THE BALL FOR AUBURN: Right-hander Jesse Hernandez makes his fourth start and seventh overall appearance of the year tonight for the Doubledays. Hernandez was rocked by the Spikes for eight runs in 1.2 innings last time out on Monday, but only two of the runs were earned. The Central Michigan alum is making just his second road start of the year, after throwing five scoreless frames against Hudson Valley on July 9.

-STREAKING CURRY EARNS NYPL HONORS: Spikes infielder Matt Curry was named the NYPL Player of the Week for July 12-18. Curry has an 20-game on-base streak, and hit .571 (16-for-28) with 7 runs batted in over the period of time for which he won the award.
