WALB-TV Teams up with the Wildcats as Opening Night Sponsor

ALBANY, GA- The South Georgia Wildcats and Jim Wilcox, Vice President and General Manager of WALB-TV, South Georgia's NBC affiliate are proud to announce that WALB-TV will be the sponsor of the Wildcats historical first game in Albany.

The Wildcats will host in-state rival Macon Knights on Saturday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m.

"WALB is very proud to support the Wildcats opening night" said Wilcox. "This is the most exciting and affordable family entertainment to ever come to South Georgia."

Wilcox is serving as one of the chairman of the Albany Chamber of Commerce and the Mayor of Albany's season ticket campaign that is being conducted on behalf of the Wildcats.

WALB-TV will be involved in selecting the National Anthem singer as well as the dignitaries for the traditional coin toss and in the selection of honoree to present the "First Ball". Wilcox indicated that the station will be conducting a survey to determine who should be awarded the honor of presenting the first ball.

Mike Storen, managing partner of the Wildcats said "We are honored to be partnered with WALB the dominate television entity in South Georgia. As the South Georgia NBC affiliate, WALB has historically broadcast Arena Football and our association is a natural extension of that relationship."

The Wildcats are entering their fourth season in the arena football league and their first in Albany, Georgia. The Wildcats will kickoff the 2005 season against in-state rival Macon Knights on April 9th at the Albany Civic Center. Wildcats season tickets are now on sale starting at just $70.
