Wahoos and Reds Extend Player Development Contract

On the night of the 32nd sellout of the season, the Blue Wahoos announced their four-year player development contract extension with the Cincinnati Reds. Fans dressed in red to red-out the stadium, plus some fans got autographs before the game from Blue Wahoos players on another Team Tuesday.

The PDC extension was announced in a press conference held in the Hancock Bank Club at Pensacola Bayfront Stadium prior to Tuesday's game. Many members of the local media showed up for the event consisting of Blue Wahoos owners Quint & Rishy Studer, team president Bruce Baldwin, Reds owner Bob Castellini, general manger Walt Jocketty, vice president of scouting and player development Bill Bavasi and assistant general manager Bob Miller. The press conference was shown on the stadium videoboard and all in-house tv's so all in attendence heard the announcement live. As for the game, the Huntsville Stars opened the five-game set with a 6-1 win over the Blue Wahoos. The only Wahoos run came on a solo home run by Ryan LaMarre in the first inning.

The two teams will continue the series on Wednesday for another red-out. Fans are again encouraged to wear red in honor of the Wahoos and Reds new four-year extension. The Wahoos will also be wearing authentic Reds uniforms in honor of the occassion.

The game will be televised WFGX My35 for those that can't make it out to the park. First pitch is set for 7:05.
