Waco Wranglers to Sign Calvin Williams

WACO, Texas-The Waco Wranglers will hold a press conference to sign Calvin Williams Saturday, Sept. 16, at 10 a.m. at the Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center at Texas State Technical College Waco. Williams will be the eighth player signed by the Wranglers.
The 6-foot point guard played for Kimball High School in Dallas where he led the team to two state championships in 1996 and 1997.
Williams attended Midland Junior College where he led the conference in steals. He then transferred to University of North Texas where he led the conference in assists and minutes played. Williams set the record for 100 or more assists in a season for the 1998 and 1999 seasons.
"I'd like to thank both the coaches for giving me an opportunity. They looked at me real hard and saw that I fit their system," Williams said. "It's my second at basketball--I looked at that after my mother died. The coaches gave me an opportunity and I'm not going to let them down and I'm not going to let my family down."
"Calvin is an excellent point guard. He is a seasoned player and is a leader on and off the court," Coach Toni said. "We look forward to great things from Calvin and are happy to have him as part of our organization."
