Waco Wranglers News Release
Mario Kinsey scored 29 points to lead the Wranglers to a 123-109 win over Dallas Diesel on Saturday in their exhibition game.
"It was our first game and we came out with good intensity. That's why we have these games to know what we need to work on," Kinsey said. "We see that were going to have to work on a couple things defense-wise and I think [the season] is going to turn out good."
The Waco Wranglers and Dallas Diesel played a close game throughout the first half with Dallas Diesel leading 53-49 at half-time. The teams were tied 85-85 at the end of the first quarter before the Wrangler's took a 16 point lead in the end of the fourth quarter to finish with a score of 123-109.
"The first half we had to shake off the nerves, but like we planned on, we owned the fourth quarter. I am proud of the guys," Coach Toni said.
Over 200 fans came out to support the Wranglers at the Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center at Texas State Technical College Waco.
"I think we had a fabulous crowd!" Coach Toni said. "We'd like to thank the people. They'll be back for more. Word is going to spread. I think we're going to have something great going on in Waco."
The Waco Wrangler's return to action tomorrow night, Oct. 8, at 5:00 p.m. at the Murray Watson Jr. Student Recreation Center at Texas State Technical College Waco. Tickets will be on sale at the door starting at ten dollars.
