Great Falls Voyagers News Release
GREAT FALLS - The Great Falls Voyagers (37-34, 13-20) surged back from an early deficit and never stopped adding more as the won 11-3 over the Helena Brewers (23-48, 10-23) Saturday night at Centene Stadium. Angel Rosario and the Voyager bullpen were the big heroes in the win.
For the third night in a row, Helena took an early lead with a run in the first inning and they led 1-0. The Voyagers came back with three runs in the bottom of the second as Patrick Palmeiro and Tyler Williams singled and doubled respectively to start the rally. It was the first of three times the duo reached base back-to-back and came across to score. Williams and Palmeiro finished with a combined six hits, seven runs scored, and three RBI in the contest. Helena took two runs back in the third to tied the game at 3-3 before Angel Rosario began his career-high night. Rosario knocked in Palmeiro and Williams for the first two of five RBI on the night. Rosario added his remaining RBI on a pair of doubles in the fifth and sixth as he matched Kyle Robinson's 2012 team-high total for RBI in one contest. The Voyagers scored three more runs in the sixth to take a commanding 11-3 lead.
While the bats exploded, the arms salted the game away. The bullpen entered in the fourth as Andrew Virgili (3-2) started the inning. Virgili dealt three perfect innings and gave way to Cory McGinnis who added two scoreless innings of his own. Behind a huge lead, Joseph Dvorsky finished the night by striking out the side in the ninth. The Voyager 'pen has combined for fourteen innings with only one run allowed in the first three games of the series.
The Voyagers complete the series with Helena Sunday afternoon at Centene Stadium. Preston Gainey will deal for the Brewers against Voyager Chris Beck. The game starts at 1 PM in the season's final afternoon start.
