Great Falls Voyagers (8-6) vs. Missoula Osprey (10-6)

7:00 p.m. - Centene Stadium (Great Falls, Mont.)

VOYAGERS DOOMED BY RALLY

Entering the eighth last night, Great Falls held a 7-3 lead, but things unraveled in a hurry for the visitors. The first four Osprey reached without hits, as three walks and a hit batter scored a run and loaded the bases. A Matt Jones double brought in two, then Joey Armstrong tied the game with a pinch-hit single, which saw the potential go-ahead run cut down at the plate by Antonio Rodriguez. Missoula would not be denied their comeback however, as an Isan Diaz double scored the winning runs with two outs to finish a 9-7 Osprey victory over Great Falls.

POWER SURGE

In last night's loss, Great Falls jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the middle innings, thanks in large part to the long ball. Having hit just six homers all year before last night, the Voyagers hit a season-high four. Nick Parent hit his first two pro long balls, collecting the first multi-homer game by a Voyager in 2015. Jake Jarvis and Antonio Rodriguez each added their second homers of 2015, giving Great Falls four homers against a staff that had allowed only three on the year entering last night.

EASTERLING SOLID AGAIN

For the second time in his three starts as a pro, righty Brannon Easterling earned a quality start for his efforts last night in Missoula. The 24-year old gave up a walk and a double to start the game, but settled in to retire the next 11 in a row and 15 of the next 16 that he faced. The College Station, Tex., native gave up two runs in six innings before turning things over the bullpen. In his first season as a starter, Easterling now owns a 2.50 ERA, the fifth-lowest among Pioneer League starters, and has tossed 18.0 innings, which is fourth most in the league so far.

HOME SWEET HOME

After last night wrapped up a two-game set for Great Falls in Missoula, the Voyagers return home for an extended nine-game homestand, beginning tonight. The stand begins with two more against the Osprey, then continues after an off day on Monday, with the Voyagers first seven games against the PL South Division. The Idaho Falls Chukars come in for three starting on Tuesday, and the Ogden Raptors will then come to town on Friday to begin a four-game series.
