Great Falls Voyagers News Release

The Voyagers look to end their seven-game road trip with a winning record as they meet Idaho Falls for the final time during the 2015 regular season tonight at Melaleuca Field.

Great Falls Voyagers (15-13) at Idaho Falls Chukars (12-20)

RHP Brannon Easterling (2-1, 3.86) vs. RHP Carter Hope (0-0, 2.16)

7:15 p.m. - Melaleuca Field (Idaho Falls, Idaho)

LATE RUNS DOOM VOYAGERS

The Voyagers gave up five runs over the final three innings, dropping their second straight to Idaho Falls Monday at Melaleuca Field. Great Falls scored the game's opening run in the fifth as Landon Lassiter led off the inning with a walk, stole second, and eventually scored on a Zach Fish groundout, to give Fish his team-leading 21st RBI of the season. Idaho Falls tied it in the sixth, as Amalani Fukofuka singled to bring in the only run the Chukars could muster against starter Tanner Banks. The home team then took the lead in the seventh on a bases loaded walk, before adding three insurance runs in the eighth.

OFFENSIVE STRUGGLES

Since tying their season-high with 13 runs on Saturday, the Voyagers have scored just four in the last two games. Great Falls hitters have struggled mightily with runners on base the last two days, hitting into seven double plays. The Voyagers were 0-for-9 with runners in scoring position last night, and are 1-for-20 in those spots in their last two. The Great Falls offense also left 11 on base for the second straight night.

TANNER'S TEAR CONTINUES

Lefty Tanner Banks offered up his third consecutive quality start in a no-decision Monday night, allowing one run on five hits in six innings. The reigning Pioneer League Pitcher of the Week, Banks has surrendered just three earned runs and 12 hits without walking a batter in 18.1 innings across his last three starts, winning the first two. The Bluff Dale, Utah, native's ERA actually rose after last night's outing to 1.39, but that mark is still the lowest among all qualified pitchers in the Pioneer League. The lefty's opponent's batting average against (.190) and WHIP (0.74) are still the lowest in the league as well.

THAT'S A WRAP

Tonight marks the seventh and final time that the Voyagers will meet Idaho Falls in the 2015 regular season, and with the series tied at three games apiece, tonight's winner will claim the season series as well. Today's game also marks the end of the Voyagers seven-game road trip, which they are so far 3-3 on. Great Falls returns home Wednesday to begin a two-game series against the Billings Mustangs.
