The Syracuse Chiefs notched their fourth consecutive victory with a 3-0 shutout of the Norfolk Tides on Friday night. Austin Voth picked up his first win of the season, tossing six scoreless innings, and the Chiefs extended their staff's scoreless streak to 19 innings.

Syracuse (6-7) opened up the scoring in the third inning as the Chiefs scored three runs. Shortstop Adrian Sanchez led off the inning with a single off of Norfolk (5-9) starter Mike Wright. After right fielder Caleb Ramsey walked, and center fielder Rafael Bautista flied out, left fielder Brian Goodwin plated Sanchez with an RBI single. First baseman Clint Robinson grounded out in the next at-bat advancing the runners to second and third. Brandon Snyder singled to left field, bringing in Ramsey and Goodwin to score.

The Tides would threaten in the top half of the fifth as they loaded the bases on three singles, the last of which was a bunt from center fielder Logan Schafer. Voth was able to get out of the jam, however, as Johnny Giavotella popped out and Chris Dickerson grounded out to end the inning. The right-hander dazzled in his third outing of the season. After allowing nine runs in his first six and one-third innings of the season, Voth blanked the Tides in six innings of scoreless baseball, surrendering just four hits.

Triple-A newcomer Greg Ross impressed in his season debut for Syracuse. The right-hander threw two hitless innings, walked just one batter, and struck out another in his first game since being promoted from Double-A Harrisburg on Wednesday.

Closer Joe Nathan also made his home debut in the win. The 42-year-old right-hander picked up the save in Friday's victory allowing just one hit in the third save of his Chiefs career.

The Chiefs and Tides continue their three-game series with game two on Saturday afternoon at 1:05. Taylor Hill is scheduled to take the mound for Syracuse opposite right-hander Tyler Wilson for Norfolk
