Reading Royals News Release

Reading, PA - Reading Royals goaltender Mark Dekanich has advanced to the second round of the #ECHLMarchMASKness and voting is now open here. Fans can vote by clicking the link below. Voting runs through Tuesday evening. In round 2, Dekanich faces Norfolk Admirals' netminder Ty Reichenbach.

March MASKness is an ECHL competition to determine which goalie has the best mask. Last season, Toledo Walleye goaltender Jeff Lerg won #ECHLMarchMASKness. Dekanich's mask has eyes on top of the mask to represent a monster. The beard design around the jaw is meant as a continuation of his large brown beard that he sports underneath the mask. He describes the beard part of the mask as the "monster morphing into me." On the back of the mask, Dekanich has an emoji of a baby with his son's name Ascher underneath.

Dekanich and Reichenbach have squared off twice this season (Feb. 2-3) and Dekanich defeated the Admirals twice. He allowed one goal on 60 shots and was named ECHL Goaltender of the Week Feb. 5.
