Mavs Minutes

Pauly's Production

Shawn Pauly has stepped his game up to a new level in the playoff race, bringing a four-game goal-scoring streak into Wednesday's game at Fort Wayne. In those four games, Pauly has lit the lamp six times - most recently with two in the Mavericks' 6-1 win over Allen. The Bellingham, Washington is having a breakout campaign, leading the Mavericks in goals and second on the team in points for the year.

O'Brien's Debut

The Mavericks signed Brogan O'Brien out of the WHL on Thursday, and he didn't wait long to make an impression as he was named second star of the night on Saturday in his ECHL debut after registering an assist on the Mavericks' opening goal. The Prince George, British Columbia native was coming off his best per-game production of his WHL career with .72 points per contest for the Prince George Cougars.

Bouncing Back

The Mavericks have been strong after their only two regulation losses of March, outscoring opponents 14-1 in those two games with an 8-0 rout of Quad City last Sunday and a 6-1 romp over Allen on Saturday. While the Mavericks don't have much room left to leave any game without a point, the team's ability to respond to adversity down the stretch has been impressive.

Central Tests

After an extended period against Mountain Division opponents with eight of the Mavericks' last nine games coming out of the Central Division, Kansas City's two games this week are divisional contests with Friday's game against Indy having huge playoff implications for both teams. The Mavericks are 15-13-0-1 on the year against Central Division opponents and a combined 5-2-0-1 against this week's opponents.

Playoff Picture

The Mavericks enter play this week tied with Kalamazoo with 70 points, but the Wings owning a game in hand as well as the tie break. Both teams are a single point ahead of the Indy Fuel, who lurk behind at 69 points. The Mavericks' magic number to clinch a playoff berth currently stands at 15 points, a number that drops every time the Wings leave a point on the ice (L, OTL, SOL) and every time the Mavericks add a point to their year's total (W, OTL, SOL).
