VooDoo FB/LB Dan Curran named AFL's U.S. Army Ironman of the Month

New Orleans VooDoo FB/LB Dan Curran has been selected as the Arena Football League's U.S. Army Ironman of the Month for February, it was announced today by the league.

Curran (6-0, 230, New Hampshire), who is in his fourth AFL season, led New Orleans on both sides of the ball in February. Curran is currently the leading rusher in the AFL with 20 rushes for 96 yards and eight touchdowns. Curran leads the AFL in both rushing yardage and touchdowns. Curran has scored two touchdowns in each game this season. In the season opener at the Philadelphia Soul on February 8, he had five rushes for 45 yards with two touchdowns in New Orleans' 42-34 win. In the home opener vs. the Indiana Firebirds on February 14, Curran had two touchdowns, including a two-yard touchdown run with no time remaining to spark a come-from-behind 41-40 victory. At the Georgia Force on February 22, Curran had seven carries for 21 yards with two touchdowns, helping the VooDoo defeat his former team, 55-52. On February 29 at the Las Vegas Gladiators, Curran had five carries for 30 yards with two touchdowns, including a career-long 20-yard run.

For the month, Curran was among the VooDoo's defensive leaders with four solo tackles, three assisted tackles and one forced fumble. In the season opener at Philadelphia, Curran finished second on the team with four tackles. Curran also had a key forced fumble on Las Vegas' first possession last Sunday which eventually led to a New Orleans field goal and a first quarter 10-0 VooDoo lead.

The VooDoo host the ArenaBowl champion Tampa Bay Storm on Sunday, March 7 at the New Orleans Arena. Game time is 11:00 am. Tickets for that game and all other VooDoo games can be purchased by calling the VooDoo ticket office at (504) 731-1700.
