Volunteer Spotlight: Jack Dykes-The Voice of the Jr. Blues
January 7, 2008 - North American Hockey League (NAHL)
Springfield Jr. Blues News Release
Now in his 4th year with the Springfield Jr. Blues, Jack Dykes has been calling Jr. Blues games on-line as the play-by-play broadcaster since the early part of the 2004/05 season.
Jack calls all of the Jr. Blues home games, and tries to get out on as many of the road trips as his schedule will allow. Canadian born, Jack was raised in Vancouver, B.C., and also lived for a number of years in Edmonton, Alberta, earning a Bachelor's degree in Education from the University of Alberta, in 1997. Jack relocated to the U.S. back in 1999, first to Lafayette, Indiana, and then on to Springfield, Illinois, where he has resided since 2003, with his wife, Heather.
Jack and Heather also have a son, Cooper, who is 1 1/2 years old, and who is rarely seen without a hockey stick in his hands. In his spare time, Jack enjoys riding motorcycles, and playing hockey with the Tuesday Night Group at the Nelson Center.
Jack will soon be relocating to Milwaukee to begin a new job. We wish Jack, Heather & Cooper good luck. They will be sorely missed but you know they will be "bleeding blue" in Milwaukee!
