Volcanoes Stadium Earns High National Ranking

KEIZER, OR. - The results of a three year extensive survey of Minor League Baseball Stadiums across the United States and Canada, has been released and Volcanoes Stadium ranks in the top 25% of all such venues according to StadiumJourney.com.

Volcanoes Stadium, home to the Salem-Keizer Volcanoes since 1997, ranked 36th among all 160 Stadium's in Minor League Baseball. The ranking is the second-highest mark in the Northwest League behind Vancouver, B.C. whose former Triple-A ballpark came in ranked 12thoverall. Spokane, who also plays in a former Triple-A Stadium, was close behind Volcanoes Stadium in 39th place, followed by Tri City (73rd), Everett (97th), Hillsboro (99th), Boise (142nd) and Eugene (151st). Based on Classification, Volcanoes Stadium ranked 4th in the Country, out of the 40, Short Season A and Rookie League Stadiums.

The factors included in the ratings were: food and beverage in the ballpark, overall atmosphere, the neighborhood, the fans, access (includes parking, traffic, restrooms and concourses), return on investment and an "extras" category for any unique or bonus points. Volcanoes Stadium received a top rating of five stars in the food/beverage and neighborhood category, along with four-star rankings in atmosphere, fans, and return on investment. Volcanoes Stadium is proud to offer fans a variety of concession options from traditional ballpark fare to BBQ, Mexican, Asian and health-conscious options. The Stadium was the centerpiece that brought Keizer Station to the north limits of the city. The 237-acre Keizer Station shopping complex is adjacent and directly south of the Stadium off I-5.

The high ranking isn't the first such recognition for Volcanoes Stadium. In 1999, the American Institute of Architects recognized the Stadium with a Design Award for Overall Excellence noting in particular the Stadium's fan friendly atmosphere. In addition, a few years later, Baseball America rated Volcanoes Stadium as the #1 short season Stadium west of the Mississippi and 4th best in the nation.

Volcanoes Stadium also ranked highest out of all the San Francisco Giants' minor league affiliates across the country. Augusta, GA earned a ranking of 103rd, followed by Richmond, VA 121st, San Jose, CA at 139th and Fresno, CA at 158th.
