The Owen Sound Attack and Sun Life Financial partnered earlier this year to help create the Sun Life Financial Community Corner and this Saturday the Attack and Sun Life are pleased to present the first Sun Life Financial Community Corner game of the year.
October 4 to 10 is national Mental Illness Awareness Week (MIAW) and the Canadian Mental Health Association's Grey Bruce Chapter is looking to fight the stigma surrounding mental health in partnership with the Sun Life Financial Community Corner.
Mental Illness Awareness Week is an annual national public education campaign designed to help open the eyes of Canadians to the reality of mental illness. Nearly one in five Canadians is affected by mental illness, yet a persistent stigma prevents millions from getting the help they need.
One of MIAW's major initiatives is the Faces of Mental Illness campaign, a national outreach campaign featuring the stories of Canadians living in recovery from mental illness. This year's campaign features Grey Bruce's own Kendra Fisher who bravely shares her story in the hopes it will resonate with others sharing a similar journey and spur them to reach out for help.
Mental Illness Awareness Week posters, brochures, and bookmarks featuring the Faces will be available to pick up at the Sun Life Financial Community corner as well as information about local services and fact sheets listing symptoms and treatment for each illness and tips on how to achieve good mental health.
The Canadian Mental Health Association, Grey Bruce Chapter encourages you to drop by the Sun Life Financial Community Corner on Saturday, October 10th to keep the conversation going.
