ATLANTA, GA-November 15, 2005 - After Tuesday's early morning Vet-camp practice, Atlanta Vision players began their community outreach with Stoneview Elementary in Lithonia, Georgia to participate in National Young Reader's Day. Young students were pleasantly surprised by the visit from Vision players, Head Coach Kevin Whitted, and owners, Quentin and Akilah Townsend. Vision players were assigned classrooms and were greeted with a warm reception. 'We thank Principal Young for inviting us on this special day," stated Vision owner, Quentin Townsend, 'Basketball players reading to the youth is a great way to promote education, mentorship, and attending school every day."

Young students were attentive while Vision players sat amongst them to read forming a positive connection between the two. It was also a reunion for one Vision player from Lithonia, Emanuel Jackson, who reunited with his fifth grade teacher, Ms. Wilson. 'I didn't think she would recognize me now that I am 6 feet 8 inches tall, but she did," stated Jackson. The team also introduced their Raise Your Vision ticket fundraiser to help schools and organizations raise funds for special programs, equipment, and uniforms. National Young Reader's Day at Stoneview Elementary came to a close with autographs, hugs, and smiles.

Now the Vision team prepares for their season home opener on Saturday, November 19th against the Birmingham Magicians at 7:35pm at The Samson's Center. The Atlanta Vision plays 18 home games and season passes are only $125 online. The Samson's Center is located at 6400 Woodrow Road in Lithonia, Georgia 30038. Atlanta Vision plays in the Marvin Barnes Division of the ABA.
