Vision host open house

ATLANTA, GA-November 7, 2005 - The 2005-2006 Atlanta Vision season officially started with excitement and festivities at their 1st Annual Media Day & Open House on Saturday, November 5th. Over 100 families, fans, government officials, business owners, sponsors, and Vision partners were introduced to the organization and the Vision home venue, The Samson's Center, located at 6400 Woodrow Road in Lithonia, Georgia 30038. 'We are honored to present Atlanta Vision to the community because of the fresh talent both on and off the court," stated Quentin Townsend, Atlanta Vision owner, 'This is a great kick prelude to our season opener on Saturday, November 19th against Birmingham. '

The official ribbon cutting ceremony and season kick off was led by Leonardo McClarty, President of the Dekalb Chamber of Commerce. On hand for the activities were representatives from the Dekalb Fire and Rescue department, 'Ace" the Dekalb Police Department mascot, Mike Roe Video, and Bill MacAnn, General Manager of AmeriSuites Stonecrest, the official hotel for the Atlanta Vision.

The organized chaos began with a special performance by the Vision dance team leading into an open team practice, slam dunk exhibition, youth fan contests, face painting, autograph signing, and 'Big Vision", a gigantic inflatable basketball game for children. In the midst of all of the excitement, 3 Italians and A Tomato, the concession vendor, along with Miss Tomato and Miss Teen Tomato filled the stands with a sampling of the concession menu for this Vision season. 680 The Fan, the official AM radio partner of the Atlanta Vision was also on hand to pass out fantastic giveaways for everyone to enjoy. 'I am excited about the Atlanta Vision and I can't wait to go to the games," said Christian, a 7-year-old fan.

Marketing staff announced the co-branding of the Atlanta Vision with the Brand Atlanta Campaign and mentioned that Atlanta Vision basketball is ' Atlanta's best value in sports entertainment," as stated by the Gwinnett Citizen. Head Coach Kevin Whitted, General Manager Dennis '3-D" Scott, and Townsend, participated in a fan question and answer session. Whitted stated, 'The Atlanta Vision is a stepping stone for players to establish themselves and move on," when asked about the benefits of playing on an ABA team by a fan. Scott, Hall of Fame inductee at Georgia Tech affectionately declared, ' I talk from experience, not from reading a book, I know how to play the game smart and keep it simple."

The Atlanta Vision season home opener is Saturday, November 19th against the Birmingham Magicians at 7:35pm at The Samson's Center. Doors open at 7:00pm. Atlanta Vision plays in the Marvin Barnes Division of the ABA.
