Ask the CEO
November 8, 2005 - American Basketball Association (ABA) News Release
Question from Deane P, LA. "Do you think you are getting too political with your ABA Salute program? There are a lot of people not in favor of the war."
Answer: Thank you for the email. This is a good question. The ABA is not making a political statement. It is supporting our military and paying tribute to the brave men and women who defend our freedom, not only in Iraq, but throughout the world. The American military is vital to stability in Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, and here at home. Our servicemen and women voluntarily make a major commitment to defend us and our allies and to fight terrorism. This is our way of showing our appreciation and support. I've received quite a few emails on this subject. You have the freedom to be at your computer and to enjoy the luxury to pose questions like this because of the men and women in our armed forces who don't have the same luxury - they are patrolling, sailing, flying, training, marching, fighting instead. God bless them. If you have a question, please email joenewman@abalive.com.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams. For information on professional minor leagues, please see OSC's basketball section.
