
Visalia Drops Game 1 of a 3-Game Series to Stockton

Visalia, CA - The Visalia Rawhide lose the series opener to the Stockton Ports 4-3. Ports sored first in the third winning when Ryan Gridley hit an RBI double. In the bottom of the fourth, Renae Martinez hit a soft groundball to shortstop and Jake McCarthy scored to tie up the game 1-1.
Gridley gave the Ports the lead in the top of fifth when homered with Robert Mullen on base to make the score 3-1. In the bottom of that inning, L.T. Tolbert drove in Jancarlos Cintron when he grounded to second base scored narrowing the deficit to 3-2 in favor of the Ports. Stockton extended that lead in the seventh when Jonah Bride scored off a Jameson Hannah ground out.
The Rawhide battled back in the eighth when Luis Alejandro Basabe doubled to drive in Tolbert, but they were unable to tie it up in the bottom of the ninth.
Justin Lewis earned the loss in his California League Debut for the Rawhide. He gave up three earned runs off five hits and one walk in five innings. He did strikeout a career-high eight Ports batters. Nick Highberger earned his fifth win of the season for the Ports.
Rawhide look to bounce back tomorrow with Jeff Bain on the mound in game two.
