Vipers Sweep Tulsa with 113-106 Win

HIDALGO, Texas -- The Rio Grande Valley Vipers advance to the NBA Development League Finals with today's 113-106 win over the Tulsa 66ers in Game 2 of the Semi-Finals. The Vipers won Game 1 107-92 at Tulsa. RGV also set a new franchise record tonight of 19 three points shots in a game.

D.J. Kennedy led the Vipers with a triple-double, 28 points, 13 rebounds and 10 assists. Glen Rice, Jr. scored 20 points, followed by Toure Murry with 19 points. Tim Ohlbrecht scored a double-double 16 points, 10 rebounds. Chris Johnson and Kyle Fogg each scored 11 points.

Rasual Butler led the 66ers with 26 points. Hollis Thompson added 17 points. Mario Little and Ron Anderson each scored 14 points. Tony Taylor recorded a double-double 12 points, 12 rebounds. Rodney Bartholomew also scored 12 points, and Isaiah Wilkerson scored 11 points.

D.J. Kennedy scored 12 of his 28 points to lead the Vipers in the first quarter. With 2:38 left in the quarter, the game was tied at 19 points. Wilkerson sank a jump shot to put Tulsa up 21-19, and Kennedy responded with a shot from behind the arc to give RGV a 22-21 advantage and start a 12-0 run. At the end of the quarter, the Vipers were up 31-21.

The Vipers continued to build a lead throughout the second quarter. With 4:07 left in the first half, Daniels sank a shot from the line to give RGV their largest advantage of the first half, 51-35. At the half, the Vipers led the 66ers 60-47.

Tulsa fought back throughout the third quarter. With 1:07 on the clock, Wilkerson sank a three-pointer to close Tulsa's deficit to 79-74. Ohlbrecht responded with a shot from behind the arc at the buzzer, to give the Vipers the 82-74 lead at the end of the third.

Rice, Jr. and Kennedy sank consecutive threes to start the fourth quarter. With 5:45 left in the game, Rice, Jr. gave RGV their biggest lead of the night, 103-84. Tulsa closed their deficit to single-digits in the last minute of the game. With nine seconds on the clock, Little connected on a layup that put the 66ers within 111-106 of the Vipers. Kennedy sank two free throws to finish the game. RGV won 113-106.
