
Vipers Slither Past Legends

FRISCO, TX - The Texas Legends wrapped up a double-header against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers with a 125-135 loss in front of a sold-out home crowd.
Glen Rice Jr posted 19 of his 34 points in the first half to power the Vipers. The Legends stayed close for 12 minutes behind 15 combined points from Eric Griffin and Mike James, but four lead changes and three ties later the Vipers crept into a 33-31 lead. The Vipers smothered the Legends in the second, holding them to 36% shooting and only 23 points to take a 68-54 lead going into the locker room.
The Legends came out of halftime firing, with Renaldo Balkman and Mike James adding 10 each. James shot 100% and added eight assists as the Legends fought to within three points. With 5:32 on the clock, Rice knocked down a three that would carry the momentum in the Vipers favor through the final minutes.
The Legends had three scorers with double-doubles. Damion and Mike James each added 22 points, Damion also contributing 10 rebounds and Mike dishing out 17 assists. Balkman added 21 points, 15 rebounds and Griffin came close with 21 points, 9 rebounds.
Rice had a game-high 34 points to lead the Vipers while Clint Capela (21 points, 13 rebounds) and Nick Johnson (19 points, 10 rebounds) each grabbed double-doubles.
The Legends will return to action Wednesday night at 7pm at Dr Pepper Arena hosting the Canton Charge. Fans can catch all the action live on television-KTXD47-or radio-KVCE1160am.
