The Reno Silver Sox (7-15) couldn't keep the Calgary Vipers away as they lost 12-8 in the series opener last night at Peccole Park.

Coming in to relieve Leslie was Eric Alvarez (0-1) who took the loss. Alvarez threw 1.2 innings giving up three runs on four hits, and striking out one.
Making his Silver Sox debut tonight was pitcher Giorgio Fuda who pitched 1.2 innings allowing two hits and striking out two. Closing out the game was righty Shawn Ravenscraft who allowed four runs on three hits, and walked one.
The Silver Sox bats swung hard in the first four innings where they scored seven of their eight runs. Silver Sox batters knocked in eight runs off 12 hits. 3B John Hattig started the night off with a ground out RBI to the Vipers SS Nelson Castro. Hattig went three for four on the night with one run and two RBIs.

After the fourth inning the Reno bats quieted down and the pitching staff just couldn?t hold onto the lead as the Vipers slithered by for the win.
The Silver Sox take on the Vipers again tonight in a double header that begins at 5 P.M. Also, don?t forget that tonight is Bill Pearce T-Shirt night. The first 500 fans through the gates of Peccole Park will receive a free T-shirt courtesy of Bill Pearce Motors.
