Calgary Vipers News Release

The Calgary Vipers waited until the last minute to snap up the plumb of the available off season free agents in Independent baseball. Just three days before the start of the 2009 Golden Baseball League training camp the Vipers have signed one of their original players, star center fielder Fehlandt Lentini. Lentini, a mid-season all-star with the Vipers in 2005 has played for the Winnipeg Goldeyes for the past three seasons. The Californian has stolen 166 bases since joining the Vipers in their inaugural season. He started this season in the Mexican Triple-A league. Lentini led the 2005 Gary Southshore RailCats to the Northern League championship after a mid-season trade for first baseman Jason Colson and pitcher Quint0n Oldenburg.

"It's great to welcome back an original Viper", said Peter Young, director of baseball operations". "Feh will team up again with Drew Miller, Evan Greusel, Carlos Duncan and Cody Cillo, five players who suited up for the first game in team history in 2005. He'll team up with Miller and Mark Okano to give us an incredible outfield", added Young. His arrival will allow GBL Rookie of the Year Colin Moro to see action at first base and DH while platooning in all three outfield positions.
