VICTORIA, BC- The Victoria Seals hired local former major leaguer Steve Sinclair as the pitching coach for the 2009 season.

"Baseball is back in Victoria, it has been a long time coming. I'm glad to see a team in a well established league here. It's going to be great to work with players just starting out or continuing their career, " says Sinclair.

The left handed pitcher (LHP) was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in 1991. Sinclair made his major league debut for the Blue Jays on April 25, 1998, against the Chicago White Sox and pitched in 24 games that season.

Sinclair will join former major leaguer, Manger, Darrell Evans and coach Dan DiPace to round out the 2009 coaching staff.

"He brings over ten years of professional pitching as well as a wealth of coaching knowledge to our team," President Darren Parker.

Sinclair and the rest of the Seals start the season on the road May 21st and are back here at Royal Athletic Park for the inaugural game on Friday May 29th . Victoria Seals individual game tickets are now on sale at www.selectyourtickets.com or at 250.220.7777.
