Vipers Re-Sign Dynamic Receiver

Huntsville, AL- The 2008 af2 ArenaCup Champion Tennessee Valley Vipers continue to reload with talent from last seasons championship team. Receiver Alonzo Nix has been reassigned to the Vipers for the 2009 season. Nix, a University of Tennessee-Chattanooga product, was the teams second leading receiver behind Maurice Brown. Nix finished the regular season with 1,105 yards receiving and 23 touchdowns.

Nix also had huge contributions during the Vipers post-season run to the Championship. In the Vipers 34-30 over Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, Nix compiled 118 yards receiving on 14 catches, and one touchdown. The following week in the American Conference Championship game vs. Manchester, Nix won the Schutt Offensive Player of the Game award after catching 10 passes for 197 yards, and three touchdowns. In the ArenaCup title game vs. Spokane, Nix caught four of Tony Colston's seven touchdown passes, and added 116 total yards receiving on nine catches. His last touchdown catch allowed the Vipers to go for the game-winning two point conversion, and capture the af2 title.
