Spokane Shock News Release

January 22, 2009 - Spokane, WA: The Spokane Shock announced today that DB Aaron Williams will join the Shock for the 2009 season.

Williams, 5-10 195, spent the previous two seasons with the Amarillo Dusters. In addition to being named first-team all af2 last season, Williams recorded 12 interceptions (7th in the af2), 61 tackles and 19 pass break-ups. In the post-season, Williams added two more interceptions (including one against the Shock), during the Dusters' run to the National Conference Championship game.

Head Coach Adam Shackleford said that he expects Williams to compete for a spot in the secondary at the middle position.

"I think covering the motion (receiver) is one of the toughest things in professional sports," Shackleford explained. "When you can find a guy with his kind of ability, experience, and character we feel really good about this signing."

In 2007, Williams recorded 53.5 tackles with seven interceptions and eight pass break-ups.

The Shock will open the 2009 season on April 3rd at the Spokane Arena on Spokane Tribe Field as they host the Stockton Lightning.
