Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release

ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), announced today that goaltender Jamie Hodson will officially retire from his career in professional hockey.

The 6-foot-2, 198-pound Hodson informed the team earlier this week that he was needed on his family's farm in Lenore, Manitoba, and had decided that it was time to hang up his skates. The Vipers netminder was 9-14-3 with a 3.57 GAA in 26 games this season with Roanoke Valley. Hodson played 14 consecutive games during the month of December as backup goaltender Shawn Conschafter was on the IR.

The Vipers have signed goaltender Trevor Cunning to take Hodson's place on the roster. Cunning has played 10 games in the ECHL this season, splitting the season between the Augusta Lynx and the Columbia Inferno. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Cunning has played a total of 476 minutes in net this season, allowing 36 goals and making 241 saves, compiling a 3-4-1 record.
