Roanoke Valley Vipers News Release

GLENS FALLS, NY - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), scored four goals Friday night, but what would usually be enough for a win was not as Adirondack went onto score over twice as many, winning by a final score of 9-4.

The score at the end of the first period was locked at three, but the Vipers lost control soon after the start of the second. David Beauregard scored twice in the opening period for the Vipers, and L.P. Martin scored the other. Adirondack would score two within the first 6:24 of the second, forcing the exit of Vipers netminder Jamie Hodson from the game. Hodson had started his eleventh straight game, as the Vipers are shorthanded due to a recent injury to backup goalie Shawn Conschafter.

Hodson was replaced in net by emergency backup goaltender Marty Magers, who made his first professional appearance since 2004. Magers would allow a third Frostbite goal in the second period, making the score 6-3. Then for the third straight period, Adirondack put a three spot on the board, sealing the Frostbite win.

In the midst of Adirondack's scoring tirade, new Vipers winger Mike Wiggins scored on a power play at 6:04 of the third. Adirondack's Hugo Belanger put up seven points in the game (2G, 5A), and centerman Mike Berry had a hat trick.

The Vipers couldn't quite make it back to the .500 mark as they drop back to 11-13-4 with 26 points in the Eastern Division standings. They will have a shot next weekend to get back to an even record as they are back on the road Friday, December 30 in Rockford, Illinois, and Saturday, December 31st in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Vipers will finally come back to the Roanoke Civic Center on Wednesday, January 4th as the Muskegon Fury visit the Star City. Remember to catch the Vipers road games live on 3WR 910AM. The Vipers wish you and your family a safe and happy holiday season! We'll see you back at the Civic Center in the New Year!
