Alabama Vipers News Release
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The Tennessee Valley Vipers haven't won consecutive road games since beating Bossier City and Florida to close out the 2004 campaign.
The Vipers (3-2) will get another chance Saturday night when they play the Cincinnati Jungle Kats (1-4) at U.S. Bank Arena. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. and the game will be broadcast on WVNN 92.5 FM and 770 AM.
Tennessee Valley notched its first road win of the season April 28th with a 39-38 last-second victory at Florida and then downed Green Bay 26-21 before 4,365 fans last weekend at the Von Braun Center. A win tonight in Ohio would also give the Vipers their first three-game winning streak since '04.
"We have our work cut out for us this weekend,'' Vipers coach Milt Theodosatos said. "We are a bit banged up, we've got some bodies back, but it's never easy when you hit the road. We have got the job done the past couple of weekends and now we just have to keep things going."
Tennessee Valley quarterback Tony Colston has completed 88 of 154 passes for 809 yards with 14 touchdowns and seven interceptions on the season. Former Ole Miss standout Travis Blanchard has 39 receptions for 436 yards and three touchdowns and has returned a pair of kickoffs for touchdowns.
The Vipers are led defensively by former USC linebacker John Cousins, who has 19 tackles, an interception and three fumble recoveries, and former Notre Dame defensive back Carlos Campbell, who has a team-high three interceptions and 18.5 tackles.
Furthermore: The fifth episode of "In the Game: The Story of the Tennessee Valley Vipers" will air Sunday at 10 p.m. on Fox 54. The show is an inside look at the Vipers told by the coaches, players and staff and is sponsored by Infiniti Huntsville and produced by DreamMaker Entertainment...The Vipers return home May 19 to host Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Kickoff is set for 7:35 at the VBC and the first 1,500 fans 14-and-under will receive a Vipers Kids Cap compliments of Fox 54 and Coca-Cola.
