Everett Hawks News Release
EVERETT - The Everett Hawks have announced that wide receiver Warren Holloway has been assigned to the team by the af2 league office.
Holloway (5'8",195), a product of the University of Iowa, spent some time earlier this season with the Fort Wayne Fusion, appearing in the team's last game, a three-point loss in Cincinnati. Holloway hauled in one catch for eight yards in that game.
During his senior season at Iowa, Holloway caught 29 passes for 283 yards, but it was his final collegiate catch that is most memorable to Hawkeye fans. In the 2005 Capitol One Bowl then LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell threw the go ahead touchdown pass with 47 seconds remaining in the game. Iowa proceeded to march down the field, and as time expired, Holloway caught a 56-yard Hail Mary touchdown pass from Drew Tate for the 30-25 victory. That catch on his final college play was the only touchdown in Holloway's Iowa career and has since been dubbed "the catch" by Iowa fans.
"Warren's a great kid," said Hawks Head Coach Cedric Walker. "He's going to add depth to our receiving corps and add to our return game off the nets."
In other transaction news, the Hawks also announced a trade with the Green Bay Blizzard. The Hawks sent former University of Washington WR Gerald Harris - who had been on the refused to report list all season - to the Blizzard, where he spent parts of the past two seasons, in exchange for DB Shawn Manning. In four games for the Blizzard, Manning accumulated 9.5 tackles and four pass break-ups.
