Vipers' Four-Game Winning Streak Snapped

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA - The defending NBA Development League champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers' four-game winning streak came to a close with a 104-99 loss to the Bakersfield Jam on Friday at the Jam Events Center.

With the game tied at 24-24 after 11 minutes, the Jam (24-14) scored the final four baskets of the first quarter and the first three of the second while going on a 15-0 run to take a 39-24 lead. Jerel McNeal hit a driving layup at the 10:07 mark of the second quarter to break the run and start a 18-3 run by the Vipers (27-12) to tie the game at 42-42 on a jumper by Matt Janning at the 4:21 mark. The Vipers took the lead back for the first time since the first quarter at 47-45 when Janning nailed a three-pointer at the 3:10 mark.

McNeal led all scorers with 27 points to go with seven assists and a career-high five steals while Richard Roby scored 23 points.

Down 55-50 at halftime, the Jam opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run to take the lead, but with the game tied at 58-58 after a Drew Naymick jumper at the 10:02 mark, the Vipers went on a 7-0 run capped by a slam by Patrick Sullivan to take a 65-58 lead at the 8:38 mark.

Sullivan finished with his second-straight double-double and fourth of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds.

The Jam were led by Trey Johnson, who scored 23 points.

The Vipers and Jam complete the season series on Saturday at 9:00 p.m. at the Jam Events Center. With a win the Vipers will clinch their second-straight playoff berth.
