Calgary Vipers News Release

Jordy Alexander and Sean Kramer combined for a complete game four hit shutout as the Calgary Vipers defeated the Chico Outlaws 6-0 at Foothills Stadium in Calgary, Alberta. Alexander was near perfect on the night going seven innings and giving up only three hits while walking just two and striking out two. During his time Alexander did not allow a runner past second base, did not face more than four batters in an inning, and retired the leadoff hitter in all seven frames. Kramer picked up right where his starter left off throwing the final two innings allowing one hit, not walking anyone, and striking out three. It was the first shutout of the season for the Snakes and it improved Calgary's record to 12-6.

Calgary scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first inning with a Darryl Brinkley single, a balk by pitch Jason Roach to move Brinkley to second base, and a Jose Morban RBI double for the 1-0 lead.

Morban was back at it again in the bottom of the third inning following a Jorge Mejia single, Morban smacked his seventh homerun of the season for the 3-0 advantage.

Drew Miller led off the bottom of the sixth inning with a walk and after reliever Tyler Pearson came into the game Patrick Arlis crushed his second long ball of the year for the 5-0 score.

The Vipers tacked on a run in the bottom of the eighth with a Miller walk, Arlis double, and Colin Moro RBI base hit.

In the top of the eighth inning with Kramer on the mound the Outlaws put the first two batters into scoring position with no outs but the hard throwing right hander stuck out two and got a come backer to the mound to keep the shutout intact.

With the win Alexander (3-1) has now won his last three starts while Roach (0-4) dropped his fourth straight start.

This series concludes on Sunday, June 15th at 1:35 PM (MDT) and it's the Vipers Father's Day Extravaganza with Reggie Rivard (0-0) getting the ball for Calgary against Rudy Quinonez (0-3).
