
Vigier Returns to South Carolina as Stingrays Deal with Toledo

NORTH CHARLESTON, SC- The South Carolina Stingrays, celebrating 23 seasons in the Lowcountry and proud affiliate of the Washington Capitals of the National Hockey League (NHL), have acquired forward Stephan Vigier from the Toledo Walleye for future considerations, Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Spencer Carbery announced today. Vigier will wear #28 for the Stingrays.
Vigier, 25, was pointless in two games with Toledo this season. The Notre Dame, Manitoba native is no stranger to South Carolina. The forward made his professional debut with the Stingrays during the 2013-2014 season. After completing his NCAA career at Northern Michigan University, Vigier skated in eight games with the Stingrays, scoring six points (five goals, one assist). He also appeared in four playoff games with the club.
The 5-foot-9, 167-pound forward spent last year with the Cincinnati Cyclones, scoring 28 points (14 goals, 14 assists) in 66 games during his rookie season. He was also called up to the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League (AHL) where he notched two assists in six games.
Vigier played 151 career NCAA games at Northern Michigan, scoring 92 points (39 goals, 53 assists). He was an alternate captain his junior and senior seasons.
The Stingrays travel to Greenville on Friday for their first road game of the season against the Swamp Rabbits. The team returns home for games on Saturday, October 24, and Sunday, October 25. Saturday is Great Outdoors Night as Greenville visits at 7:05 p.m. On Sunday, Atlanta visits at 3:05 p.m. and it's Princess and Pirates Day with Blackbeard's Cove and a Crews Subaru & Charleston County Parks Family Days game with $5 Kids Tickets & $5 Kids Meals.
