Victory over Philadelphia gives Keith Tozer 590 career wins

November 19, 2005 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
Milwaukee Wave News Release

Behind another strong defensive effort, the Wave's 6-3 win over the Philadelphia KiXX was Head Coach Keith Tozer's 590th career victory. The Wave has opened their season 3-0 for the fifth time in the team's history.

Milwaukee's defense had another strong performance as they've held their opponents to three goals in each of their first three games (all wins). Nick Vorberg, the MISL's Goalkeeper of the Week for the first two weeks of the season, stopped 15 of the 18 shots he faced. The Wave was also able to keep the KiXX off the board on their two power play opportunities.

On the offensive end, Greg Howes notched his 200th career goal in the second quarter and Todd Dusosky's three assists led a balanced attack. All six of the goals were scored by different members of the team. Giuliano Oliviero got the Wave on the board first with his second goal of the season about four minutes into the game. Philadelphia defender Drew Kopp responded with his first goal of the season and the teams finished the first quarter knotted at one.

After the first quarter, the Wave put some distance between themselves and the KiXX as they scored three unanswered goals. Greg Howes notched his sixth goal of the season in the second quarter and Hewerton added his second of the season with about three minutes remaining in the second stanza. Marcelo Fontana scored the lone goal of the third quarter to give the Wave a 4-1 lead entering the fourth quarter.

Philadelphia's Pat Morris closed the gap to 4-2 with his goal at 3:56 in the fourth quarter. The Wave had kept the KiXX off the board for 43:40 before that goal. The momentum started to shift toward Philadelphia after Chris Fehrle's goal put the score at 4-3. Second year defender Jonathan Greenfield came up big for Milwaukee as his first goal of the season gave the Wave breathing room at 5-3. Matt Schmidt added an empty net goal to close out the game 6-3.

Milwaukee (3-0) returns home to get their first look at the expansion California Cougars on Saturday, November 26 at 1:05 p.m. All Wave games are broadcast on The Joy, 1340 AM and can be heard via webcast at www.Milwaukeewave.com.
