November 19, 2005 - Major Indoor Soccer League 2 (MISL 2)
St. Louis Steamers News Release

The St. Louis Steamers fell victim to the Baltimore Blast in a 12-5 blowout Saturday night at 1st Mariner Arena. The contest was St. Louis' first of the 2005-06 season and Omid Namazi's first as Steamers head coach.

Midfielder Sterling Wescott put the Steamers on the board first, assisted by defender Genoni Martinez, at 3:31 of the opening stanza. With Steamers goalkeeper Brett Phillips screened, Blast midfielder Denison Cabral took a pass from Danny Kelly and put it in the net to even the score.

Steamers forward Mike Apple scored at 8:18 of the first to put St. Louis back on top 2-1. Baltimore drew even again when Cabral scored with 58 seconds remaining in the period. Blast midfielder Robbie Aristodemo earned an assist on Cabral's second goal.

Baltimore gained a 5-2 lead when David Bascome, Machel Millwood and Adauto Neto stunned the Steamers with three consecutive goals in the first four minutes of the second quarter. The Steamers got their first power play opportunity of the new season with 7:54 remaining in the first half. With the man advantage, Apple buried his second goal of the night to close the gap to 5-3, a score that would hold through the end of the first half.

The third quarter began the same way the second as Baltimore put three unanswered goals past Phillips to widen the gap to 8-3. Baltimore increased their lead to 9-3 when a header by Lee Tschantret found the net at 10:52. With six seconds remaining in the third period, St. Louis midfielder Sandre Naumoski executed a bicycle kick past Blast goalkeeper Sagu to move the Steamers (4-9) a goal closer.

Like the previous two quarters, the fourth started with three consecutive Baltimore goals. With the Blast on top 12-4, backup keeper Bayard Elfvin replaced St. Louis goalkeeper Brett Phillips. Steamers forward Joe Reiniger scored his first goal of the season on a penalty kick to make the score 12-5, a count that held until the final buzzer.
