
Victory Field to Host IHSAA Baseball State Finals

INDIANAPOLIS -- Eight of the state's top baseball teams will travel to Victory Field this weekend for the 42nd annual Indiana High School Athletic Association Baseball State Finals. The two-day event will include one game on Friday (7:30 p.m.) and three contests on Saturday (1, 4 and 8 p.m.).
Game times and match-ups are below:
Friday @ 7:30 p.m. -- Class A Final -- Cowan (24-5) vs. Shakamak (25-8)
Saturday @ 1 p.m. -- Class 2A Final -- Fort Wayne Bishop Luers (29-3) vs. Elwood (27-4)
Saturday @ 4 p.m. -- Class 3A Final -- Mishawaka Marian (21-10) vs. Crawfordsville (31-4)
Saturday @ 8 p.m. -- Class 4A Final -- Homestead (26-5) vs. Decatur Central (28-7)
Camden Parkhurst's Cowan Blackhawks will take on Matt Fougerousse's Shakamak Lakers in the Class A Final on Friday night.
On Saturday, Gary Roger's Fort Wayne Bishop Luers Knights face off with Adrian Heim's Elwood Panthers (2A), while Tim Prister's Mishawaka Marian Knights do battle with John Froedge's Crawfordsville Athenians (3A) and Steve Sotir's Homestead Spartans square off with Phil Webster's Decatur Central Hawks (4A).
Admission will be $9 per day. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and noon on Saturday. Victory Field is located at 501 West Maryland Street on the southwest corner of downtown Indianapolis.
The Indians have hosted the IHSAA Baseball State Finals 32 out of the past 33 years.
Shakamak is making its fifth appearance at the state finals, while Cowan, Fort Wayne Bishop Luers, Elwood, Mishawaka Marian, Crawfordsville, Homestead and Decatur Central are all making their first trip.
