Vic Davilla named Can-Am League Player of the Year

DURHAM, NC--The Can-Am League announced today that North Shore Spirit INF Vic Davilla was selected the Can-Am League Player of the Year, as voted by the league managers and media.

The 33-year-old veteran was very instrumental in leading North Shore to a club best 58-32 record and winning both the first and second half titles. The New York City resident finished tied for first in the league with 61 RBIs and was second in on-base percentage at .403. He was also fourth with 12 home runs and 56 runs scored, while fifth in slugging percentage at .474. Davilla was a Player of the Week selection for the week of May 22-28.

Davilla is currently in his 14th year of professional baseball. He was selected in the 26th round of the 1993 draft by the Toronto Blue Jays out of Westchester (NY) Community College. After four years in the Blue Jays organization, he signed with the Adirondack Lumberjacks of the Northeast League. Since 1997, the career .301 hitter has enjoyed tremendous success in the Northeast, Northern and Can-Am Leagues. He has been among the league leaders each season in every statistical hitting category.
