
Vets' Return; Night & Day Difference

ODESSA, TX. Veteran players reported to camp for the Roughnecks yesterday and made an instant impact. Head Coach Chris Williams said, "It was a night and day difference," commenting on yesterday's practice compared to the first few days of camp. "When the vets' got here they automatically sparked the energy level of the rest of the guys. Things have been intense since the beginning, but we're at a higher level now," said Williams. "We have been especially pleased with the standout performances of Jason Johnson QB, and surprisingly, Percy Coleman WR," stated Williams.
* Joel Babb WR looks to make a 100% recovery from the broken ankle he suffered last season and should be in uniform by week 2.
* Jerry Turner OL/DL formally of the AFL NY Dragons reported to camp last night.
* Today's practice schedule has been changed. There will be no afternoon practice at Hood Jr. High. The practice at Midland Youth Field has been re-scheduled to 7:00 PM.
*Coaches expect to release two or three more players after tonight's practice. This information will be included in tomorrow's update.
Hopeful Roughneck Dancers have just a few days left to prepare for Saturday's 3:00 PM tryout at Midland Park Mall. A dance clinic at Shout Dance Studio starts tomorrow. Those interested should apply in person at the Odessa Roughnecks main office, 700 N. Grant, Suite 702.
