Veteran Defenseman T.J. Reynolds Joins Road Warriors

GREENVILLE, SC - The Greenville Road Warriors announced today that they have signed defenseman T.J. Reynolds for the 2010-11 season.

"T.J. brings an element of hard work and veteran leadership that the Greenville Road Warriors were looking for. T.J. displays a very high compete level each and every day and that will definitely give him the respect from his teammates and opponents very quickly. He is a team guy and will do whatever it takes to win hockey games for the Road Warriors. He is a fantastic person and will be a great fit within the Greenville community. I am very excited to have T.J. on board and I look forward to big things from him and this team," said Head Coach Dean Stork.

A veteran of 404 games at the professional level, Reynolds will be suiting up for his fifth season in the ECHL. He played 55 games last season with the Charlotte Checkers alongside fellow Road Warriors signees Andrew Carroll and Matt Schepke. In 2009-10 Reynolds topped the entire ECHL with 254 penalty minutes which included 19 fighting majors. He also added five goals and 16 assists, and was a plus-19 as the Checkers captured the top seed in the American Conference for the Kelly Cup Playoffs. His goals, assists, and points totals last season were all career highs. Reynolds also played three seasons with the Wheeling Nailers from 2002 to 2005 and amassed 669 penalty minutes, seven goals, and 25 assists in 151 games.

The 29-year-old defender brings five seasons of American Hockey League experience with him to Greenville. Reynolds has logged 152 games between the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins, San Antonio Rampage, Milwaukee Admirals, and Springfield Falcons and spent 499 minutes in the penalty box. At 6-2, 225 pounds, Reynolds gives the Road Warriors another big body on the blue line along with David Schulz who is listed at 6-4, 215 pounds.

"I have heard many great things about Greenville as a city and playing in Charlotte last season I enjoyed the Carolinas. I have talked many times with Coach Stork and feel he's putting together a winning team and I am excited to help win a championship. I will bring a lot of leadership and dedication to winning to the team, along with toughness and hard work on the ice," said Reynolds.

Prior to turning professional, Reynolds spent four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League. From 1998 to 2002 he spent time with the Oshawa Generals, Toronto St. Michael's Majors, and Mississauga Ice Dogs. At the junior level Reynolds garnered 450 penalty minutes, three goals, and 20 assists.

Reynolds is the fifth player to sign with the Road Warriors this season. He joins forwards Carroll, Schepke, and Connor Shields as well as defenseman Schulz.
