Adirondack Frostbite News Release
Glens Falls, NY â The Adirondack Frostbite, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), today signed defenseman Kamil Kuriplach to a training camp agreement, it was announced by Frostbite Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Marc Potvin. This will be Kuriplach's second stint in Adirondack, previously playing during the 2002-03 season. As per team policy, terms of the agreement are not being disclosed.
Kuriplach, 28, is playing in his seventh professional season after spending last year with the Wheeling Nailers (ECHL). In 62 games with the Nailers, the native of Presov, Slovakia tallied ten points (5g, 5a). Kuriplach finished each of his last five seasons with a positive plus/minus rating including a +12 last year. In the 2002-03 season, Kuriplach registered his best year in Adirondack recording a career high 27 points and 23 assists. Before signing with Adirondack the first time, the 6'0'' 195-pounder spent two seasons in the Central Hockey League (CHL) with Wichita and Columbus.
"We were looking to bring more grit to our defense during this off-season," said Potvin. "Adding Kuriplach and Bergfors gives us two guys with a bit of nastiness in their game. That was something we really lacked last year."
Prior to the 2000-01 season, Kuriplach attended training camp with the Milwaukee Admirals of the now defunct International Hockey League (IHL). Following his rookie season in Slovakia, the defenseman was awarded the club's Best Defenseman Award.
Kuriplach is the seventh player to sign with the Frostbite for the 2004-05 season. He joins left wing Hugo Belanger, right wing Frank Littlejohn, center Sylvain Cloutier, defensemen Scott Drevitch and Henrik Bergfors and goalie Derek Gustafson.
