
Vern Fiddler Named to ECHL All-Rookie Team

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - Today the Norfolk Admirals announced center Vern Fiddler has been named to the 2002 ECHL All-Rookie Team, as determined by the coaches of each of the ECHL's 29 member clubs.
In 45 games for the ECHL's Roanoke Express, the 21-year-old center posted 55 points (27 goals, 28 assists), a plus-7 rating and 71 PIM. Fiddler scored 11 power play tallies, tying him for the Express team lead in power play goals. As a member of the Northern Conference squad in the 2002 ECHL All-Star game in Trenton, NJ, he registered a goal and an assist.
Fiddler is currently signed to a professional tryout with the Admirals. Appearing in 33 games for Norfolk, Fiddler has posted 8+5=13 points and 28 PIM. His eight goals include three game-winning tallies.
The Edmonton, Alb., native had 185 points (85 goals, 100 assists) in four seasons with Medicine Hat and Kelowna of the Western Hockey League. Last year, he registered a career high with Medicine Hat in games played (70), goals (33), assists (40) and points (73).
