Vermont Mountaineers News Release
MONTPELIER, Vt. - The Mountaineers were back in action at home tonight and had more firepower to bring to the table as they grabbed a big 8-2 win at Recreation Field. Vermont improves to 6-0 on the season and is now the only undefeated team remaining in the NECBL.
In five of the first six games, the Vermont squad has scored in the first inning of their games. Tonight Vermont tallied up one run in the first, one run in the third, and six runs in the fourth. Christopher Kahler (George Washington U, Coral Springs, Florida) got the win tonight for the Mountaineers dealing 5.1 innings allowing no runs, and rolling out seven strikeouts. Caden Leonard (Kent St U, Mokena, Illinois) dealt the loss for Keene tonight.
The Mountaineers once again found themselves relying on good hitting and excellent pitching to keep their undefeated season alive. Mitch Pascarella (Connecticut U, Lakewood, New York) came into the game to throw two innings, recording one hit, five strikeouts, and no runs allowed.
Keene had signs of life in the sixth inning scoring two runs but timely outs shut down an otherwise hot offense. The two runs were scored tonight by Keene's Tony Santa Maria (Rutgers U New Brunswick, Absecon, New Jersey) and Colin Wetterau (St Johns U, Medford, New Jersey).
Vermont will take two days off before playing a doubleheader this coming Wednesday against the Ocean State Waves. To catch all the action make sure you tune into the NECBL broadcast network.
