Pitchers Carlos Caceres and Jim Henderson promoted from Gulf Coast League Expos
Infielder Josh Whitesell, 6th round pick out of Loyola Marymount, assigned to Vermont
Outfielder Jason Tuttle, signed as free agent, assigned to Vermont
Caceres was 2-0 with a 0.75 ERA in 2 games for GCL Expos ... He allowed 1 earned run in 12 innings with 0 walks and 7 strikeouts ... In last start, allowed 1 hit over 6 innings with 5 strikeouts.
Henderson was 0-0 with 1 save and a 2.25 ERA for GCL Expos ... He had allowed 3 runs (2 earned) on 6 hits over 8.0 innings with 1 walk and 3 strikeouts in 4 games for GCL Expos ... Was Montreal's 26th round pick in 2003 out of Tennessee Wesleyan, where he was 8-0 and AAC Player of the Year.
Whitesell hit .340 (55x162) with 40 runs, 19 doubles, 15 homers and 47 RBI in 52 games for Loyola Marymount during the 2003 season ... In 3 seasons at Loyola, hit .313 (136x434) with 36 doubles, 23 homers and 96 RBI in 139 games.
Tuttle comes to Vermont after playing for Florence in the Frontier League (Independent) ... He was 2nd in that league in hitting with a .378 average (54x143), 31 runs, five doubles, 3 triples, 10 RBI and 16 stolen bases in 37 games ... Hit .299 with 57 runs and 40 steals for Johnstown of the Frontier League in 2002 after having played collegiate baseball at Elon College.
These roster moves leave the Expos with 15 pitchers and 14 position players on the current roster. 8 of the 29 players were not with Vermont when the season opened on June 17th.
