Venom Game Preview
April 8, 2011 - Indoor Football League (IFL)
Amarillo Venom News Release
Amarillo, TX 4/8/11 - The Amarillo Venom are set to host the Colorado Ice Saturday night at Coors Light Field. The doors will open at 6:00 p.m.
The Ice is coming off of a 38-26 win against the Bricktown Brawlers on the road in Oklahoma City while the Venom is coming off of a 52-51 loss at home against the Allen Wranglers.
"We are just ready to get back on the field," said Rodney Blackshear, the Venom's Head Coach. "We are looking forward to Colorado."
The Ice comes into Amarillo on a five game winning streak. The Venom has struggled to this point in the season, but knows that a win against Colorado would be a step in the right direction.
The Venom will need to take care of the football against the Ice and will not be able to afford to turn it over like they have the past five games. Despite having seven more giveaways than takeaways, the Venom has lost five games by a combined 28 points (5.6 points/game).
"The talent and desire is there, we just haven't been able to take care of the football and finish games," said Coach Blackshear. "A win against Colorado would be a step in the right direction to getting this season back on track."
Tickets are still available for the Venom's game against the Ice and can be purchased through the Amarillo Venom offices, located at 901 S. Buchanan in downtown Amarillo, by calling 806-350-7277, stopping by any United Supermarket location, or by going to www.panhandletickets.com .
Fans attending the game will have a chance to win $25,000, thanks to the People's Federal Credit Union. Visit the Venom's Customer Service desk on the northwest corner of the concourse before the game and during the first quarter for your chance to win.
The AMARILLO VENOM is a proud member of the Indoor Football League.
