Vegas Knight Hawks News Release
The Vegas Knight Hawks (6-0) defeated the Bay Area Panthers (5-1) 62-43 on the road Saturday evening. The Knight Hawks became the IFL's last remaining undefeated team. Ja'Rome Johnson rushed for five touchdowns, the most he has scored in a single game, and tied for second in the IFL.
Johnson got Vegas on the board first with his first rushing touchdown of the game, getting the Knight Hawks out to an early lead.
CJ Windham added another touchdown early to extend the Knight Hawks' lead to 13-0.
The Panthers found the endzone midway through the quarter, but Johnson was quick to widen the lead again with another rushing touchdown.
Bay Area, once again, narrowed the lead to eight, but Quentin Randolph helped Vegas with another timely response to make it 27-12.
The Panthers cut the lead to seven, the smallest of the quarter. But, Johnson stepped up with another rushing touchdown to re-extend the lead.
Jericho Flowers returned the following kickoff for a touchdown, his second in as many games, to make it 47-21 in favor of the Knight Hawks. James Caesar sent the Knight Hawks to halftime with a secure lead and all the momentum thanks to a timely interception.
Johnson opened the second half with another rushing touchdown to give Vegas a 21-point lead.
Bryce Hampton then intercepted the Panthers' next drive to give the Knight Hawks the ball back. Caleb Holley added another touchdown to his total, making it 55-27.
Johnson added his fifth rushing touchdown of the game, marking the third time that the Knight Hawks have scored 60 points or more in a game.
Although the Panthers would score twice more in the fourth quarter, they couldn't erase their 35-point deficit, securing a 62-43 win.
The Knight Hawks will return to Lee's Family Forum on Friday, May 10, where they will celebrate Henderson Heroes Knight. Kickoff is set for 9:05 p.m. CT.
