(Memorial Stadium - Boise, ID) - An RBI double off the bat of RF Nick Baligod scored PR Shane Opitz in the top of the 9th inning to help Vancouver top the Boise Hawks 3-2 on Friday night to keep their playoff hopes alive heading into the final day of the Northwest League season.

Vancouver opened the scoring in the top of the 2nd inning when RF Nick Baligod doubled off of Boise starter RHP Ben Wells before coming around to score on a double from CF Matt Newman to give the Canadians a 1-0 lead.

The Canadians would grab a second run in the top of the 4th inning when seldom-used DH Roan Salas hit his 4th home run of the summer over the left field wall.

Boise would get stymied by Canadians starter RHP Aaron Sanchez over his five innings as the first round selection of the Toronto Blue Jays from 2010 would limit the Hawks to just two hits while striking out five.

C Rafael Lopez got the Hawks back to square one in the bottom of the 6th inning when he hit his 6th home run of the summer with CF Kyung-Min Na on base off of Canadians reliever RHP Bryan Longpre to even the game at 2-2.

It wasn't until the top of the 9th inning that another run would come into count as Boise reliever LHP Kyler Burke walked 3B Balbino Fuenmayor who's night ended seconds later when interim manager Rich Miller sent pinch runner Shane Opitz into the game. With two outs, RF Nick Baligod would send a pitch deep into the left field gap scoring Opitz from first base as Baligod gave the C's a 3-2 lead.

From there, Canadians closer RHP Drew Permison came in and slammed the door on the Boise offensive attack striking out both SS Wes Darvill and 3B Dustin Harrington to secure the Vancouver victory.
