TROY, NY - Fans coming out to Joe Bruno Stadium this summer can expect a promotional lineup loaded with entertainment and giveaways as the ValleyCats head into their 5th season of Minor League Baseball. The 'Cats 38 game home slate will begin Tuesday, June 20 against the Oneonta Tigers at 7pm where every fan in attendance will receive a Commemorative Opening Day Gym Bag and a ValleyCats Schedule Magnet.
"With 38 home games this year, we believe that every single night at "The Joe" should be a special one for the fans" said ValleyCats Vice President/General Manager Rick Murphy. "The ValleyCats have grown tremendously over the past four years and as we look ahead to the fifth, our unique and creative promotional schedule is what keeps the fans coming back."
The ValleyCats second game of the season, Thursday, June 22 will be the first of seven post-game fireworks spectacles at "The Joe". Different from years past, fireworks are not exclusively on Fridays so now fans can enjoy the fireworks displays on all different nights of the week. Dates include: Thursday June 22, Tuesday July 4, Saturday July 8, Saturday July 15, Sunday July 26, Tuesday August 8 and Friday August 25.
On June 29 fans will be able to cheer on the 2006 America East Champs and NCAA Tournament appearing UAlbany Men's Basketball Team as they will be present to sign autographs and Head Coach Will Brown is throwing out the honorary first pitch. That same night the Blues Brothers Entertainment Act will be in town with their hilarious routine that has been a favorite Minor League teams across the country.
The ValleyCats also have some very exciting, one-of-a-kind giveaways planned for this season featuring a Joe Bruno Bobblehead (June 30), ValleyCats Water Bottles (July 1), Foam Fingers (July 8), ValleyCats Key Chains (July 15), Southpaw Bobblehead (July 16), Roger Clemens Collectable Figure (August 18), 5th Anniversary Card Sets (August 27) and many more.
Joe Bruno Stadium will be the home to several heritage nights over the summer. During these games fans will be able to experience superb culture specific foods, music and entertainment. The heritage nights feature German Night (July 5), Polish Night (July 26), Italian Night (August 2) and Irish Night (August 9).
During the season the ValleyCats will have many exciting performers and entertainment acts come through "The Joe". Aside from the Blues Brothers, one of the most popular acts on the promo calendar is the Zooperstars (August 26). Roger Clamens, Derek Cheetah, Alex Frogriguez and Cow Ripken Jr. are back for another night as this crazy combination of giant animalistic superstars will make everybody in the stadium laugh throughout the game. Another returning star act is Reggy (August 17), one of the most amusing acts in baseball will be rockin' and rollin' around "The Joe" all game.
A new addition to the promo lineup is The Big Wigs (July 7) which are a bizarre sports entertainment touring act that brings the "biggest" stars from Hollywood right to Joe Bruno Stadium. These celebrity characters with their enormous heads put on an amazing show.
